American Flag Chocolate Berry Toast

This healthy American Flag Chocolate Berry Toast is the perfect way to kick off your 4th of July celebration. It is super easy to make and can be turned into a fun activity with the kiddos.

Equipment

Ingredients

  • 1 slice of favorite bread
  • 1 tsp butter
  • ½ tsp ground cinnamon
  • 2 chocolate (squares)
  • 9 blueberries
  • 4-5 raspberries (sliced in half)
  • 1 tsp shredded coconut

Instructions

  • Preheat the oven to 350°F. Meanwhile, line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  • Butter the top of each bread slice with butter or coconut oil and sprinkle with ground cinnamon.

  • Toast the bread in the oven for 5 minutes.
  • Remove the baking sheet from the oven and place the chocolate squares or chocolate chips on top of each slice. (You may place the baking sheet back into the oven for 30 seconds if chocolate does not melt right away).

  • Spread the chocolate over the surface of the toast, decorate with berries and sprinkle with shredded coconut.
  • Serve immediately and enjoy!

Notes

  • I recommend buttering the bread to keep it from drying out in the oven, especially if using whole grain bread.
  • Be sure to use ripe and sweet berries to top off your toast. 
  • This recipe can easily be doubled, tripled, etc. to make the number of toasts you need.
